After the announcement of awarding the most prestigious award ‘Padma Vibhushan’ to late Samajwadi Party (SP) founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, party leaders have demanded that he be conferred with the country’s highest civilian honor ‘Bharat Ratna’. Samajwadi Party’s Legislative Council member Swami Prasad Maurya alleged that Mulayam Singh Yadav’s contribution was ridiculed by giving Padma Vibhushan. Maurya demanded to honor him with Bharat Ratna.

In a tweet on Thursday, he said, “Government of India has ridiculed Netaji’s personality, actions and his contribution to the nation by awarding Padma Vibhushan posthumously to Netaji Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav.” If Netaji had to be respected then he should have been honored with Bharat Ratna.
By giving Padma Vibhushan award posthumously to Netaji Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Government of India has ridiculed Netaji’s personality, work and contribution towards the nation. If Netaji had to be respected then he should have been honored with Bharat Ratna.

On the other hand, SP spokesperson IP Singh also expressed similar views. In a tweet, he said, “No other honor befits the son of the soil, late revered Mulayam Singh Yadav except the highest civilian honor ‘Bharat Ratna’. An announcement should be made to give Bharat Ratna to Netaji, who is respected by all of us. It is noteworthy that the central government has announced the name of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav for the Padma Vibhushan award under the Padma awards announced on Wednesday.
