Republic Day 2023 : The country will celebrate its 74th Republic Day today. The main event will be held at India Gate in the capital Delhi. During this, a parade will be taken out on the duty path by the army and paramilitary forces, while attractive tableaux will also be taken out by the states. For 2 years, the country was celebrating its Republic Day under the shadow of Corona. But this time it is being celebrated with pomp. Every time the President of a foreign nation is called as the chief guest on Republic Day. This time the President of Egypt has reached India to attend the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest. At the same time, strict security arrangements have been made regarding this entire event. Around 6,000 security personnel have been deployed and a total of 24 help desks have been set up in New Delhi district for the visitors of the event.
Police said the bomb disposal squad and dog teams were checking markets, crowded areas and other important areas. A senior police officer said that for the last two-three months, the verification drive was being carried out at hotels, dharamshalas, guest houses, cinema halls, parking lots and bus stands. In addition, police personnel as well as paramilitary personnel are being regularly briefed about security.
Expected arrival of 60 to 65 thousand people
Police said around 60,000 to 65,000 people are expected to attend the Republic Day celebrations. New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pranav Tayal said that this year the entry will be based on the QR code given on the ‘pass’. No person will be allowed entry without valid ‘pass’ or ticket. The DCP said that more than 150 CCTV cameras have been installed and some of them are equipped with face recognition system. Anti-drone teams of the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) will also be deployed, police said. He said security personnel would be deployed at multi-storey buildings in central Delhi. He said the security personnel are prepared to deal with any kind of threat.
The Delhi Police has prohibited the flying of para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs, UAS, microlight aircraft, remote operated aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized aircraft, etc. till February 15. Police said that several districts have also conducted mock drills to see their preparedness regarding anti-terrorist measures. Officials said this year, additional nakas have been set up in border areas to ensure that miscreants do not enter the national capital.
