Padma Awards 2023 Full List Like every year, this time also the Padma Awards have been announced on the eve of Republic Day. The Padma Awards – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri – are among the country’s highest civilian awards. Late Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Defense Minister of India and former CM of UP, has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Mulayam Singh Yadav died on 10 October 2022 at Medanta Hospital Gurugram after a long illness. Besides him, ORS pioneer Dilip Mahalanabis has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously. The Padma Vibhushan is the country’s second highest civilian award after the Bharat Ratna.

Padma Vibhushan to 6 celebrities

The 6 personalities who have been given the Padma Vibhushan include the names of Balkrishna Doshi (posthumously), SM Krishna, Dilip Mahalanabis (posthumously), Srinivas Vardhan and Mulayam Singh Yadav. These awards are presented by the President of India at formal functions usually held at Rashtrapati Bhavan around March/April every year.

For the year 2023, the President has approved the conferment of 106 Padma Awards. The list includes 6 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri awardees. 19 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 2 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 7 posthumous awardees.

Doctor Dilip Mahalnabis had saved crores of lives

Renowned doctor of West Bengal Dr. Dilip Mahalanabis passed away in October last year. Dr. Dilip Mahalnabis was 87 years old. Dr. Dilip Mahalanabis, known for his work in the field of Oral Rehydration (ORS), saved more than 50 million lives. This time Dr. Dilip Mahalanabis, who will be honored with Padma Vibhushan, saved thousands of lives by his service in refugee camps during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Apart from this, Dr. Dilip Mahalanabis also saved thousands of lives by his service in refugee camps during the Bangladesh Liberation War.

91 celebrities will get Padma Shri award

In addition, Ratan Chandra Kar, a retired government doctor from Andaman, who was working with the Jarawa tribe living in an island 48 km from North Sentinel, received the Padma Shri in the field of medicine. Apart from Ratan Chandra Kar, Hirabai Lobi, Munishwar Chander Davar have also been announced to be given Padma Shri. 91 people have been selected for Padma Shri, ranging from veteran politicians, businessmen, scientists and doctors to artists engaged in public service and common people.

Naga social activist Ramkuiwangbe Nume, Kerala Gandhian VP Appukuttan Poduval, Naga musician Moa Subong will also be honored with the Padma Shri. Apart from these, 102-year-old sarinda maestro Mangala Kanti Roy from West Bengal, 98-year-old organic farmer Tula Ram Upreti will also be honored with the Padma Shri. Will get Padma Shri.
