Lakshya Sen and Saina Nehwal
Indian shuttlers put up a disappointing performance at the India Open in Delhi last week. In the biggest badminton tournament to be held in India, all the star shuttlers of the country were eliminated in the first or second round. After this, the next test for these players has begun in the Indonesia Masters Super 500, which starts this week. Indian men and women shuttlers have also made a good start in this tournament being played in Jakarta.
Lakshya Sen won in the first round
Lakshya Sen
Star Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen has won the first round of the Indonesia Masters Super 500. He defeated Japan’s Kodai Naraoka in straight games in his men’s singles first round match. World No. 12 Sen won the match comfortably 21-12, 21-11 to book his place in the second round. The new season, however, hasn’t started well for Sen as he suffered early exits at the Malaysia and India Open in the last two weeks. But at the Indonesia Masters, he has shown signs of regaining his old form by making a stellar debut. Seventh seed Sen will now face Malaysia’s Nig Jae Yong.
Saina Nehwal won in the first round
Saina Nehwal

Saina, who reached the second round of India Open, registered a 21-15, 17-21, 21-15 win over Chinese Taipei’s Pai Yu Po to enter the pre-quarterfinals. Saina will now take on the winner of the match between two Chinese players Zhang Yiman and eighth seed Han Yue.
