Kia EV6 Vs Hyundai Ioniq 5: Features, range, specs, expected price

Kia is all set to introduce the EV6 in the Indian market by June 2022, while Hyundai will be launching the Ioniq 5 in competition in the second half of 2022. Both the Korean car manufacturers are contributing well to boost the electric vehicle segment in India by introducing their respective models. Based on the same platform, the EV crossovers share a lot of similarities. Upon launch, how fair they will compete with each other, here we have listed the features, range, specs and expected price of both the electric crossovers, take a look.
Kia EV6 Vs Hyundai Ioniq 5: Features
Based on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 share many components with each other. Featuring a sleeker design and sharp side lines, the Kia EV6 gets a signature tiger-nose grille and LED headlamps. At the rear, the EV6 comes equipped with a C-pillar, forward-raked rear glass, raised tail-lamp section and flared rear-wheel arches.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features traditional Crossover Utility Vehicle design and sharp body lines and creases. Similar to the Kia EV6, the Ioniq 5 gets a rear glass and C-pillar, but more traditional-set tail-lamps.
In terms of interior, the Kia EV6 will likely come equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a signature two-spoke steering wheel, linked car technology and more.
Speaking of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, it features dual-screen arrangement inside the cabin, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other interior features include a thin dashboard, connected car technology and more.
Kia EV6 Vs Hyundai Ioniq 5: Powertrain and Range
The Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 share the same powertrain as well. Both the crossovers will make use of a single electric mill that churns out 168 hp power and 349 Nm torque by transferring the power to the rear wheels.
The EV6 and Ioniq 6 will also have two powertrains as optional – a single-motor delivering 225 hp and 349 Nm and a dual-motor producing 320 hp and 604 Nm with an All-Wheel-Drive option.
Both the EVs share the 58 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery that will deliver a claimed range of 373 km in the Kia EV6 and 354 km in the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The EVs also get a 77.4 kWh battery. The Ioniq 5 with this battery offers a claimed range of 487 km in RWD and 411 km in AWD. The EV6’ 77.4 kWh battery provides a stated range of 499 km in RWD and 440 km in AWD.
Kia EV6 Vs Hyundai Ioniq 5: Expected Price
Expected to launch in June 2022, the Kia EV6 is expected to be priced around Rs 65 lakh – Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
Expected to launch in the second half of 2022, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be priced from Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market.
